We want to introduce you to our Parish communication tool, Flocknote. It is an easy way for us to text message and email our members.
If you have not done so already, please take a moment to set up your preferences. There are just a couple of easy questions you need to answer.
Your First and Last Name
Your email address to be associated with that name.
Your cell phone number.
If you want to receive text messages, please add your cell phone number.
Choose the Groups you want to receive messages from.
Select all the Groups you would like to hear from—the ones you belong to and perhaps some that you would like to learn more about.
Double check that you are in each class group that you have children in.
You may choose how to receive your messages for each group you sign up for. Some you may want to receive texts from but an email is fine for others. If you choose to receive only text messages or text and email messages, when an email is sent out you will be notified with a link to Flocknote to view the email. If you do not want to receive text messages you will receive the text as an email.
Why Should I Sign Up? Why is my church using this?
Your church cares about you. Because they care about you, they want to communicate more easily and effectively with you (and be able to get your feedback too). Using Flocknote allows your church to easily send you the information you care about most via email and text message, and gives you the ability to give them essential feedback, too!
Am I “in for good” if I sign up?
Nope! The nice thing about this great service from the church is that it is always free, and you can unsubscribe form one or all groups at any time.
Is my information secure?
Yes. All of your data is transmitted across an encrypted internet connection, and all of your personal information is stored in secure databases. Your information is never (ever!) sold, rented or given away to any third-parties. Find more info at Flocknote.com/privacy
What if I don’t have texting?
You can still sign up! As long as you have an email address, your church has a unique link on the internet that you can use to sign up as well. Just enter your name and your email address, and you can still receive all messages sent out by your church.
Having problems receiving emails? Did your emails stop?
There are a few reasons you may not be receiving emails, or your emails may have stopped:
The emails may be going to your spam folder:
Please add [email protected] to your address book or safe sender list to make sure that the emails are not being sent to your junk or spam folder. If the emails are appearing in your junk folder, be sure to mark them as 'Not Spam' or 'Not Junk'.
Your email address may not be verified:
If you joined Flocknote on your own and you weren't added by an admin of your church or organization, Flocknote sent you a verification email to make sure you were the owner of the email address and that there weren't any typos in your email address. If you never verified your email address, the system will not send the emails to you. In order to verify your email address, please login to Flocknote and click the 'verify' button located under your email address. Or you can email us at [email protected]and we can verify it for you.
You subscribed using a different email address than you remember:
Many of us have several email addresses. Perhaps you used your work email or your alternate email. It may be we added you from a registration form and you no longer use that email. Try checking your other accounts. If you find your account there you can edit your account with the new preferred email address.
You clicked on STOP to unsubscribe
If you click on STOP at the bottom of an email that comes from a ministry group email it unsubscribes you from that group.
However, If you click on STOP from an email that went to Everyone in Sacred Heart of Jesus Manvel (such as the weekly updates) you will be unsubscribed from all emails and you will have to reregister as a new user to be added back in.
Your emails may have been bouncing back to us:
When there are multiple reports of problems delivering emails to your email address, Flocknote will mark your address as not verified and will stop sending emails to that address. When your address is not verified, Flocknote will not send emails to you. Email a Happiness Engineer at [email protected] and we'll be happy to get you verified! Adding [email protected] to your address book or safe sender list should prevent your email provider from bouncing the emails back to us or marking them as spam or junk.
You may be forwarding the emails and becoming unsubscribed:
Emails sent from Flocknote always contain a link in the bottom right hand corner to 'Unsubscribe'. This link is unique to the original recipient of the email. If you forward the email to anyone, they will have the power to unsubscribe you. Instead of forwarding the emails, we encourage you to share a link to the note instead.
Still having trouble?
If none of the above resolved your email delivery problem, please send an email to us at [email protected] and we can check in on things for you
Can multiple members have the same contact information?
A specific email address or a specific phone number can only be attached to one account in Flocknote, so separate member accounts cannot share the same contact information. If a family shares an email address, but each family member has a separate cell phone number, there are a couple of options.
One option is to create one account for the family that contains only the email address and subscribing that account to all groups the family members wish to receive messages from. Then, create separate accounts for each family member that only contains their cell phone numbers. Each family member can join just the groups they individually want to receive messages from.
Another option is to simply add that email address to just one family member's account and ensure they are subscribed to any groups all family members wish to receive messages from. Then, the additional family members can have accounts with only their cell phone numbers.
(These same scenarios can also be used if a family shares a cell phone number, but have separate email addresses.)
Why Did I receive a notice that should have gone to my spouse or child?
Who the email is associated with depends on the order in which we imported them.
We uploaded the Heads of Household and Spouses emails from the registered members of the parish first and then the students. Your student’s name will appear with an email if it differed from what we had on file from when you registered in the parish or if you did not give one when your registered. Often times the Student ones are more current as we forget to notify the Parish Office when changes occur, but we collect and update new ones each year for Faith Formation. The first student uploaded will be associated with that email, regardless of how many children you have and what groups they are in.
Select the My Info button from the top left hand corner under your church or organization's name
Click on the Info tab. Adjust your phone number or email (click on the blue pencil first) as needed and select Done (the green check mark) This should work for your name also. The edit pencil should appear as you move your cursor over the name, email address and phone number.
Note: If your new email or phone number was part of another record in Flocknote already, we may ask you to reverify your phone or email address to make sure you are the owner.
Edit your Group preferences
Select the My Info button as when you edited your account Info.
Click on the Groups tab. You will see the groups you belong to first. Select the way you want to communicate with each.
At the bottom of the list you can click on Join another group to see the list of other groups you may be interested in. Click on the name to join.
