The Houston Food Bank has commodity boxes of shelf stable food valued at $50 retail from the USDA/TDA to distribute to qualified senior applicants.

Requirements for receiving Senior Box:
Be a resident of one of these counties: Harris, Montgomery, Galveston, Brazoria, Waller, Walker, Chambers,
Liberty, Fort Bend

Be age 60 or older

Meet the following household income guidelines:
Household of 1: Monthly income does not exceed $1,473
Household of 2: Monthly income does not exceed $1,984

All applicants are subject to verify their age, residence, and household income.

Can't make it to the distribution?
Have your family or a friend pick up your Senior Box for you by following these instructions:
Write a letter stating you give them permission and include a time frame the person can pick up your box (for example: today only or always)
Sign and date that letter
Send the designated person with the letter and some form of your ID (a copy or photo of your ID or your apple/ food bank card)
Make sure the designated person also brings their own ID for verification Please bring your ID and Apple ID to pick up your Senior Box
Bring a cart to take your food home or to your vehicle

Each week our Social Ministry staff and volunteers from multiple churches serve in our food pantry to set up and assist more than 750 families. We welcome volunteers to help during the afternoon distribution hours (1:00 - 3:00pm on Mondays and 1:30-6pm on Wednesdays). If your Safe Environment status is current, you enjoy helping others,  and can serve at least one hour, we need you! No experience required. Cajas de Comida para Personas de la Tercera Edad

Cada dos meses, el Banco de Alimentos de Houston ofrece cajas de comida valoradas en $50 para las personas mayores que son elegibles.

¿Quién es elegible para la asistencia alimentaria CSFP del programa Senior Box del USDA?

•  Residentes de los siguientes condados donde distribuimos: Harris, Montgomery, Galveston, Brazoria, Waller, Walker, Chambers, Liberty, Fort Bend
•  Personas mayores de 60 años (o más)

•  El ingreso familiar total para un hogar de 1 no debe ser más de $1473.
•  El ingreso total del hogar para un hogar de 2 no debe ser más de $1984.

• Escribe una carta indicando que da su permiso e incluya por cuanto tiempo es que la persona puede recoger la caja para usted (por ejemplo: solo hoy o siempre)
• Firme y póngale fecha a la carta
• Envíe a la persona que usted escogió junto con la carta y algún tipo de identificación suya (una copia o foto de su identificación o su tarjeta Apple o tarjeta de banco de alimentos)
• Asegúrese de que la persona designada también traiga su propia identificación para la verificación
• Traiga un carrito para llevar su comida a casa o a su vehículo
